ABOUT US

Background

The Q2 Group of Companies have their origins from Denmark. Q2 A/S was set up in 2006 to develop and build biogas and landfill gas plants worldwide. A Malaysian chapter, Q2 Engineering Sdn. Bhd., fully owned by Q2 A/S, was set up early 2007 as a base for the market in Asia.

Q2’s owners are renowned Danish investors and Engineers with interests in environmentally friendly technology. They are armed with more than 30 years of experience and technology know-how in the field of biogas and landfill gas utilization projects.

The engineers at Q2 have performed many test pumping, biogas and landfill gas production forecasting and feasibility calculations worldwide. Q2 has the practical experience of implementing complete biogas plants and landfill gas facilities, and provides added value to the customers by acting as a single point of contact from sale, engineering, procurement, construction, installation, project management, to commissioning and operation/maintenance of the project.

Q2 has successfully implemented and commissioned the first CDM-based landfill gas projects in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, as well as another landfill gas project at the largest landfill in Malaysia, situated north of Kuala Lumpur. Q2 has also successfully upgraded and improved several existing landfill gas projects in Indonesia, and also undertaken the first large scale landfill gas project in West Africa, in the city of Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire. Q2 has invested and implemented a landfill gas to energy project in Johor Bahru, with the production of electricity sold to the grid under the feed-in tariff scheme. Currently, Q2 is completing a landfill gas WTE project in Semarang city, Central Java, Indonesia, under a grant from DANIDA.

Q2 has also developed a new biogas technology called the EMARsystemsTM (External Mixing Anaerobic Reactor System). It is a product of research and development combining both wastewater treatment and biogas technologies, to target the organic wastewater industry, in particular for palm oil mill effluent (POME). With this technology, Q2 is able to offer both tank-based and lagoon-based biogas technology and solution to its customers and is actively pursuing such projects in Malaysia and Indonesia.

Q2 and its partners are currently actively pursuing and developing food waste-to-energy (FWTE) projects in Malaysia. A pilot plant has been successfully set up and is being commissioned now.

Organisation Structure

Due to the different nature and diversification of the projects, Q2’s engineers have the ability to adapt and adopt the local conditions as well as to expand its existing technological know-how. The following are some countries where Q2’s engineers have worked in:

Armenia, China, Cote d’Ivoire, Denmark, Ecuador, Iceland, Indonesia, Jordan, Lithuania, Macedonia, Malaysia, Maldives, Mayotte, Moldova, Russia, South Africa, Thailand, Ukraine, Vietnam.

With sound financial backing and technology know-how, Q2 is positioning itself as investors, joint investment partners, turnkey technology provider, or plant operators.
